Michel Thiry Thought Leaders seminar
Wednesday 27 February Worldwide, the best organisations aim to create value for the business and their stakeholders. Project-Based Organisations (PBO) conduct the majority of their activities as projects and/or privilege project over functional approaches. They are fast emerging as a serious trend, but many organisations still do not understand how to structure themselves to effectively create a strategic advantage from projects. Sadly, many organisations still promote tight controls and top-down authority. This seriously impedes synergy between business units, business and projects and the different projects. The Project Management approach is dynamic, focused on teamwork and results oriented. PBO’s need to be structured to create synergy between strategy, project, program and portfolio management and the project approach needs to both generate tangible value for the stakeholders and be sustainable. For many organisations, the stumbling block lies in the difficulty to create synergy between the different business units, between business and projects and between the different projects. Portfolio, PMO’s and Program Management aim to foster this synergy, but are still not well understood. This presentation will discuss how to create value and how dynamic project-based structures support the delivery of business benefits through projects.
