Step Back From Chaos

Many make claim that complex projects require a completely new approach to management that operates at the edge of chaos.  In this unique talk Whitty and Maylor, authors of “And Then Came Complex Project Management”, invite you to take a step back from chaos to appreciate what’s known and misunderstood about these complex social networks, and how what’s required to manage them comes from an extension of our existing knowledge.

The Speakers

Harvey Maylor is Director of the International Centre for Programme Management and lately Programme Director for Cranfield’s MSc in Programme and Project Management.

He is the author of many books and journal papers on project management and is actively engaged in a number of funded research projects such as the EPSRC funded network Rethinking Project Management, and Understanding Project Complexity.

Jon Whitty is an academic at The University of Queensland.He is affiliated with the Complex and Intelligent Systems Research Group and delivers the Master of Project Management program.He is the author of many journal papers that focus on an evolutionary approach to researching the project management discipline.

Their conference and now revised journal paper “And Then Came Complex Project Management” has struck a chord with many in the project management community. 

Both are dedicated to keeping Project Management intellectually honest and passionate about getting to the truth behind what it takes to manage projects.
