JOB DESCRIPTION:
Reporting to the Manager Projects Group, the Senior Project Manager provides expert advice on the design, development, construction and commissioning of projects; and assists in managing the program of capital works, maintenance projects and workloads across the Projects Group, Sydney Opera House. The Senior Project Manager supports the Manager Projects Group by providing an oversight of works delivered within the Department and guides individual project managers and consultants to ensure the successful delivery of projects within SOH and Government Guidelines and to minimise disruption to the operational (including theatrical, commercial and administrative) activities at Sydney Opera House.
SELECTION CRITERIA:
1. Tertiary qualifications in an engineering, building, construction or related field with a minimum of 5 - 10 years experience managing, developing and executing complex / major capital works and maintenance projects in a busy and challenging operating environment; or equivalent level of relevant industry experience. 2. Extensive project management and delivery skills in the government sector, including planning, budgeting, coordinating work priorities, cost control, communication, stakeholder management, concept design, detailed design, documentation, Government tendering guidelines and leading project teams 3. Experience and specialist technical skills and knowledge in either an engineering and/or building services environment, with knowledge and experience of relevant building statutes and regulations (including BCA/OH&S legislation), generalist technical and contractor management. 4. Project definition and government tendering skills and ability with an understanding of specification and contract preparation/administration 5. Substantial relationship management ability/experience, including with consultants/contractors with strong diplomacy, consultant/contractor management and interpersonal and influencing skills and experience. 6. Leadership and people management skills/experience, including strong communication and motivation, conflict resolution and staff development skills/ability and experience in managing cultural change. 7. Negotiation and conflict resolution skills 8. Strong communication skills including report writing and presentation skills/experience
EMPLOYMENT CONDITIONS: Job Status: Temporary, Full-time (12 month contract)
Salary Package: $116,276 per annum ($106,675 Salary + 9% superannuation)
Salary Notes: This position is covered by the SOH Enterprise Agreement 2006
